The Pride of the Prairie - Manitoba Bred Barrel Race! Exclusively for horses bred in Manitoba. It's a standalone race - not a sidepot like last year. We are looking to promote the breeders in Manitoba through this race and reward barrel racers for running Manitoba bred horses.
A "breeder" is defined as the individual or ranch listed as 'breeder' on the horse's registration papers and must be located as residing in Manitoba. The "breeder" is the owner of the service stallion at time of service.
While all Manitoba bred horses will be eligible to enter the Pride of the Prairie, some of those contestants will be eligible for the Breeder’s Bonus Cash if their horse was bred by any off our breeder sponsors!
These Manitoba breeders have contributed to the Breeder's Bonus Cash pot to which the fastest eligible competitor in each division will win a Bonus Cash cheque!

2024 Event Information
To be eligible to enter, horses must be bred in the province of Manitoba to compete. Registration papers must be provided. Breeder listed on the papers must be Manitoban. The “Breeder” is considered the owner of the Stallion (your horse’s sire) at time of service. The Breeder is listed as such on AQHA and APHA registration papers.
Entry Fee - $50
+ $15 administration fee per rider
Carryovers from the Slot Race will be permitted but must be declared at time of entry. Contestants to elect to carryover their time will NOT be permitted a re-run should their Slot Race run result in a no time.

The Pride of the Prairie will also feature Manitoba Breeder’s Bonus Cash once again! A bonus cheque will be awarded to the fastest horse in each D bred by the contributing breeder’s programs.
Only those bred by the Bonus Cash Breeders will be eligible for the Bonus Cash. However, any horse bred in Manitoba is eligible to enter.
This jackpot will be an Open 4D with 0.7 splits and will pay 5 spots in each D. 100% of the entry fees paid into this race will be paid out.
Full western attire dress code will be in effect for the competition and the awards. Awards ceremony to follow approximately 30 minutes after the race.
SIDEPOTS
The following sidepots will be available to enter with your Pride of the Prairie entry. Sidepots are cash payout only. Registration papers must be provided for all horses entered into a sidepot. Futurity horses must be 5 years of age or younger and in their futurity year. Derby horses are eligible up to age 7.

Derby - $30
ALL HORSES ENTERED IN THE RACE MUST BE ENTERED USING THEIR REGISTERED NAMES (with the exception of grade horses) AS RACE RESULTS WILL BE SUBMITTED TO EQUISTAT.
